Environmental Ethics Education Promotion Project

1. Planning multiple ways to promote Environmental Ethics Education and conducting the personnel training of Environmental Ethics Education, for popularizing the environmental knowledge. (a) We’ve held a series of “Training Course of Environmental Ethics Philosophy Education for Teachers” at July 15th, July 22nd, July 29th, August 5th, 2018, trained 30 persons with 24 hours course, which were teaching them the skills of guided thinking while leading the discussion about environmental issues. (b) We’ve held two sessions of the Environmental Ethics Education Storyteller Courses. The first session was held at August 25th, August 26th, September first. The second session were held at September 15th, September 16th, September 22nd. 21hours for each session, 42 hours in total. (c) We’ve held Activities like “Having fun with picture books storytelling” with Environmental Ethics Education Storytellers, for promoting the influence of the Environmental Ethics Education picture books, and the amount of storytelling reached 98 sessions from June to December during the process of the project. There were total 104.5 hours of these activities and with a total of 2779 participants. 2. Conducting the international exchange lectures on Environmental Ethics Education, implementing the international exchanges (a)We had invited the outstanding foreign experts and scholars to Taiwan for eight days to have international exchange lectures focusing on environmental ethics issues and collected the latest information about Environmental Ethics Education from abroad. One of the scholars is from America and the other from German, both of them have remarkable works in Environmental Ethics Education. (b)We’ve held the international exchange lectures on Environmental Ethics Education at North, Central, South and East part of Taiwan, three hours for each session. We had already held four lectures of this series at Taipei (9/7), Taichung (9/9), Taitung (11/14), Tainan (11/17), with a total of 207 participants. Through these international exchange lectures, the participants could broaden their horizons about environmental protection, we also invited Taiwan’s experts and scholars to join the seminar to exchange the opinions about situation nowadays and works of Environmental Ethics Education promotion. 3. Providing Training course for ecological writers and compiling the Environmental Ethics Education Picture Books, planning multiple ways to promote parent-child activities of Environmental Ethics Education (a) We’ve held two series of “Training course for ecological writers”, the first series were completed on every Tuesday from June 26th to July 24th in 2018. The second series were completed on every Tuesday from August 21st to September 18th in 2018. Let more creators who are willing to devote themselves to the environment to join the course, so that they could create high-quality environmental ethics texts. (b) Compiling and publishing the Environmental Ethics Education Picture Books (i) Materials collecting and planning of the picture books. From July 17th to July 20th, through the project of the "Environmental Ethics Education Picture Book", we’ve held a total of 16 hours of "Environmental Ethics Education parent-child activities” with the writer, so that we could obtain the materials which are closest to children's thinking and finished the Picture book. (ii) Composing the editorial team This editorial team was composed by the art consultant-Cheng-zong Qiu, art editor-Pei-Jun Shih, text editor-Mao-Xiu Yang, chief editor-Yu-Ling Lee and administrative editors -Hui-Ling Weng, Guang-Ling Zhao, Ya-Feng Zheng. We also invited the outstanding graphic&article creators-Matthew E. Andrews and Xing-Yuan Tsai to have editorial group meetings for five times, both of them have the practical experiences of designing the environmental materials. Meetings were held separately on July 24th, August 13th, August 20th, September 18th, October 31st, only to present the most complete works. (c) The compilation of this picture book included the editing of the manuscript (including texts editing, refining, revising, draft verification etc.), photography (including cover and photos in the draft), art design (including cover and back cover), etc. The dimension is 16K (16 cm x 26 cm), and the total number of pages is 80. We chose the eco-friendly paper which is eco-labeled and the eco-friendly soy ink. The content is easy to understand, and the phonetic symbols are easy to read for the children. (d) We’ve invited the experts and scholars to compose a review team. The team members included -Guo-Zong Zhao, Zhong-Zhi Lee, Su-Yan Lai, Cheng-Meng Guo, Pei-Yun You, Shu-Nu Yan, Wen-Hong Duan and Tong-Xin Xiong. And the review meetings were held in 5 sessions, 4 people attended on the afternoon of November 8th, 9th and the morning of November 21st, to review and publish the "Environmental Ethics Education Picture Book" in accordance with the "Government Publication Management Key Points”. (e) The Promotion of the Picture Book - After the publication, 3,000 sets will be printed on November 20th, and 6,000 copies in total of the two volumes. And these picture books will be distributed to libraries in various elementary schools as collections. The rest will also be open to relevant groups to request. And we’re also planning multiple methods of promotion, through storytelling activities, environmental awareness has taken root.
